The government crack down on media yesterday took a dramatic turn after the government announced an indefinite suspension of the registration of new radio stations in the country.
The Chairman of Uganda Broadcasting Council (UBC), Eng. Godfrey Mutabazi, told Daily Monitor that the move was intended to restore order among the broadcasters in the country. “It’s our recommendation to the government that we suspend registration of new radio stations to restore order before we can have more radio stations,” Eng. Mutabazi said.
